Forum Abstract

The BW/F Healthcare Information Technology Innovation Program (HIP) launched in 2008. The aim of the program is to support new ideas, and provide the resources to develop and test them. All staff and clinicians associated with Brigham and Women's Hospital, Faulkner Hospital, and Brigham and Women's Physician Organization are eligible for the program.

  • The HIP program process consists of two phases:
A call for Preliminary Proposals which are reviewed and evaluated by the HIP Selection Committee.
  • A subset of the Preliminary Proposals is then chosen by the HIP Selection committee to be further developed into Full Proposals. The Full Proposals are evaluated and funding recommendations are made. Each recipient of funding has a year to complete their work and receives approximately $100,000 to develop their project.

HIP has conducted two requests for proposals, also called cycles, and one group of projects is currently funded and ongoing.  Sue Schade will describe the HIP Program, the currently funded projects, and the opportunities and challenges of such a program.
