The Ambulatory Practice of the Future (APF), recently launched at Massachusetts General Hospital, is an exciting example of what can be done with a commitment from all parties to design afresh. The CIMIT Forum reopens on September 14, 2010 and will focus on Redesigning Care Processes: The Ambulatory Practice of the Future as a Living Learning Laboratory.
The APF is not only a functioning living practice with a large panel of patients, but it is a laboratory for learning and further innovation. At the Forum, the participants in this collaborative venture will describe the strategies they used to achieve a successful launch, and their plans to build on that platform to deliver improved experiences and outcomes for their patients.
The areas for focused research for the APF initiative include:
The Care Experience, Care Team Communication, The Virtual Practice &
The Physical Practice.
