Janice Crosby speaks at tech meeting
Janice Crosby, director of the industry liaison program at CIMIT, was a lead speaker at the March 28 meeting of the North Shore Technology Council on the subject of “The Changing Face of Healthcare Technology Adoption."
Ms. Crosby discussed the CIMIT model, stressing the value of commercial participation. She said CIMIT relationships with business and commerce are designed to catalyze collaborations with clinical and technical leaders of the CIMIT community and to accelerate the technology development cycle.
She referenced CIMIT’s work with LiveData Inc., a Cambridge firm that sells “digital dashboards” for operating rooms of medical centers. The devices help doctors, nurses and tech professionals in the OR to monitor a patient’s status through data updated data on large display screens.
CIMIT helped LiveData obtain federal grants and identify its first customers, assistance that enabled the company to generate revenue at a crucial time.
Jeff Scott, vice president of marketing and business development for LiveData, who was also a speaker, said, “CIMIT helped us with business issues, obtaining federal funding and identifying our first customer. The organization was very important in getting us started in the health business.”
Ms. Crosby said, “We look forward to working with more companies in the future in an effort to develop new products and provide improved medical care to patients.”
