Percardia, Inc. Renews ILP Membership

CAMBRIDGE, MA - March 11, 2004 - Percardia, Inc. has renewed their membership in CIMIT. Percardia, located in Merrimack, NH, is a venture-funded medical device company focused on the development of novel therapies for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The company is developing a unique method for supplying blood to the coronary vessels that will solve many of the problems associated with coronary artery bypass graft surgery and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. The Company's VSTENT(tm) Myocardial Implant, in clinical trials in Europe, has shown to be a safe and efficacious new procedure in bypass patients. Similar to traditional intra-coronary stents that are used to hold open blocked arteries, the VSTENT(tm) Myocardial Implant provides in situ scaffolding that establishes a direct channel to deliver oxygenated blood from the left ventricle of the heart to a targeted coronary vessel. The first generation implant is a balloon-deployable stainless steel stent, which consists of biomaterials that have a proven safety record of implantation into humans.

Percardia has renewed its membership in order to continue sharing its research with others committed to solving complex medical problems through innovative technology. Percardia's team highly values the exchange of ideas through forums like the ones organized by CIMIT.
